Behavioral Psychologist
Reports to: Director of Behavioral Health Division
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary:
The Behavioral Psychologist is responsible for providing behavioral consultation, intervention and therapy to individuals as referred by the Department of Mental Retardation. The Behavioral Psychologist will provide direction and supervision to all staff assigned to the program.
Essential Functions:
- Provides clinical consultation to individuals with developmental disabilities, families, residential programs, vocational programs and schools as referred by DMR.
- Responsible for the development of assessment, intervention and monitoring strategies.
- Coordinates and/or provides training for staff working with individuals with developmental disabilities on his/her caseload.
- Assists in training, supervision and evaluation of Behavioral Treatment Specialists.
- Provides for the fiscal management of the program and assures the proper utilization of the agency's financial resources.
- Responds to referrals for emergency evaluations and interventions as requested by DMR and other authorized individuals.
- Provides on-call services as part of a rotation including other psychologists in the program.
- Proactively identifies clinical risks and potential safety issues for clients.
- Ensures comprehensive and continuous communication between staff, clients, families and programs.
- Provides an environment of quality service by meeting or exceeding the needs of the client, vendor, community and agency.
- Ensures that clients are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates Human Rights Policy.
- Follows agency and appropriate licensing policies regarding professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Performs all duties in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

Qualification/Education/Experience/Personal Characteristics:
- Ph.D in Psychology or related field.
- Must have extensive knowledge of applied behavior analysis, cognitive behavioral interventions and a minimum of 3 years experience working with developmentally disabled individuals exhibiting severe behavior problems.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ability to read English and communicate effectively in the primary language of the program to which he/she is assigned
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and ability to use good judgment.
- Sensitivity to clients and the ability to treat them with dignity and respect.
- Must hold a valid driver's license. Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport clients.
