Volunteer If you would like to volunteer in any way with your hobbies or skills to Advocates, we would love to hear from you. Please let us know what services you would like to contribute and your availability by sending us an email. Gifts of Securities Gifts of appreciated securities may be deducted at full market value on the date of the transfer to Advocates. You will not be subject to tax on the appreciated value of the securities unless you are subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax. Gifts of Real Estate A gift of real estate or other capital assets (stock in closely-held companies, oil or mineral rights, works of art, jewelry, books, and so forth) can be sold for the immediate benefit of Advocates or, in certain circumstances, given to Advocates for future sale. Although the responsibility for appraisal rests with the donor, that expense is tax deductible if you itemize. It is also possible to make a gift of real estate to the Advocates, Inc. and retain the right to live on the property during your lifetime. Our In-Kind Wish List Advocates is always in need of items for our homes and programs. If you would like to donate an item, please visit our Wish List where you can see the items most in need by each individual program site so that you may donate these items or purchase them online at wholesale price. Visit Advocates' Online Store Support and help promote awareness of our organization by purchasing Advocates merchandise at our online store.
