Advocates Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES) team provides mobile crisis intervention services to individuals of all ages and families, regardless of ability to pay, in the greater MetroWest area. We seek to understand and engage an individual experiencing a crisis, along with his or her support system, in a way that maximizes personal preferences, goals and safety. Our multidisciplinary team includes:

• Psychiatrists
How We Can HelpEarly and effective intervention in a crisis can lead to recovery and growth. With this view in mind, our approach to crisis stabilization and resolution is to engage the individual and, when appropriate, family members and treatment team in an assessment and planning process that:
• Establishes physical safety while preserving psychological safety
• Incorporates views of immediate needs, goals, and effective strategies
• Utilizes psychiatric advance directives
• Identifies and build upon strengths
• Utilizes supports that occur naturally
• Respects cultural diversity
• Ensures rapid coordination and linkage to appropriate services
• Provides opportunities to connect with Peer Specialists and Family Partners
• Community Crisis Intervention & Stabilization
Our goal is to meet individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis in the least restrictive setting possible, making every effort to honor dignity, respect rights, afford as many real choices as we can within the scope of the risk factors, and take positive, affirmative actions to foster wellbeing. Using these guiding principles, crisis interventions can be provided in homes, schools, and other natural settings, as well as our clinic locations.
Hospital emergency rooms are used only in cases of one or more of the following:
• Complicated medical issues
• Imminent safety risk to self or others
• Request of by the individual experiencing the crisis
Hours of Operation
Our services, including mobile outreach interventions, are offered 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per a year.
Payment Options
We contract with and accept most major health insurance, HMO and private insurance plans. No one residing in the PES catchment area experiencing a behavioral health crisis will be denied services, regardless of ability to pay.

Advocates provides support services for people with:
- Mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse
- Intellectual or developmental disabilities or co-occurring mental illness and developmental disability
- Prader-Willi Syndrome
- Autism and pervasive developmental disabilities
- Acquired or traumatic brain injury
We also provide support services for:
- Deaf adults with mental illness or a developmental disability
- Families who are supporting a family member with a disability
- Elders living in the community who may have a mental illness or substance abuse disorder
- Adults with a mental health diagnosis in jail or re-entering the community
- Youth in transition from foster care
- Individuals and families who are homeless or at risk for homelessness
